How You can Engage Your Audience – Innovative Techniques for Boosting Event Participation

Sharing innovative techniques and strategies for increasing attendee engagement before, during, and after events, showcasing how (or why) to create interactive and impactful experiences.

How you engage your audience is everything when it comes to selling your event tickets, your event participation and leaving a lasting impression for every person attending your event. Your overall Event Brilliance shines at every touchpoint from the beginning to the end of your event, as well as your ability to create impactful experiences for every attendee.

It’s time to step into the spotlight and make all your hard work worthwhile, because I know the demands of this industry, but I’ve also built amazing recourses along the way to support these demands, which allow you to fully shine without getting burnt out in the process, you can check them out HERE.

Through my years of tailored expertise in this area, I’ve found there are 3 innovative ways to make sure you are always thinking about boosting your event participation.

Creating an engaging experience is the key to leaving a lasting impression. It’s time to create an IMPACT that is INTERACTIVE and talked about for months to come after your event because brand recognition is important, and no one screams you’re amazing…like everyone who attends your event and clients you do amazing work for.

  1. Building your event anticipation
It’s all about not missing out when it comes to the lead up to your event. You don’t want your target audience to miss out on the event of the month (week, year…whatever it is). The lead-up to your event is the perfect time to drum up excitement and involvement.Start by leveraging social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn to plant the seeds and tease the event. Building a content strategy, like the templates I’ve created for my private coaching clients allow you to leverage this easily and not miss any millstone moments to the buildup. Share sneak peeks of speakers, highlight unique sessions, and create countdowns to build anticipation as a “must” seat at your event.A pre-event survey, done at least 6 months in advance is another great way to build anticipation to gather input from potential attendees on topics they’re interested in. This will help to tailor your agenda and make attendees feel valued, as their voices directly shape the event experience.
  1. Create clever ways for attendee interaction
Some people come to events on their own so it’s important to think of ways for your attendees to mingle, network and meet each other. Once the event kicks off, it’s time to turn up the engagement dial. Incorporating interactive elements can transform passive attendees into active participants and they may make new friends or great business deals along the way. After all, deals don’t get done in the board room anymore, the biggest business leveraged deals are done in the most unlikely of places and this is increasing.

You could:

  • Create live polling/Q&A sessions
  • Incorporate Breakout sessions
  • Introduce fun and interactive elements, such as scavenger hunts or competitions, to encourage exploration and participation
  • Choose speakers who not only provide valuable insights but also interact with the audience.

Keep the momentum going well after your event
The post-event phase is an opportunity to build on the connections made at your event.

You could create:

  • Follow-Up Surveys: Send out a follow-up survey to gather feedback on the event. Not only does this show attendees you value their input, but it also provides awesome insights for improving your future events.
  • Share content from the event: Time to share your event highlights, recorded sessions, and teasers of speaker presentations via email and social media. This does wonders in keeping the conversation alive and reminds those who attended of the value they received out of the event. It’s the best thought trigger to keep momentum going.
  • Networking Opportunities: You could create an online community or group (like a Facebook group or LinkedIn community) where attendees can continue discussions, share insights, and network with one another well after the event has finished. This fosters ongoing engagement and collaboration.
  • Personalised Thank-You Notes: A simple thank-you email can go a long way. Personalising these messages by mentioning specific conversations or interactions you’ve had with attendees can leave a lasting impression and encourage future engagement.

In the vibrant landscape of Australian events, attendee engagement is paramount to creating memorable experiences. By implementing innovative techniques before, during, and after your event, you can foster a dynamic environment captivating attendees and cultivates a sense of community. The key is to make attendees feel involved and valued.
